Fort Lee Historic Park

Fort Lee Historic Park is an amazing 33-acre cliff-top park. It has a visitor Center, an area with scenic features, and a reconstructed Revolutionary War encampment. It is located south of the George Washington Bridge on the Hudson Terrace.

 

History

 

In the year 1776, Fort Lee featured in American history. During the American war for independence, they began to fortify the Fort Constitution, which was later changed to Fort Lee. This was in honor of General Charles Lee, whose army did commendable work during the war.

 

Amazing Activities at Fort Lee Historic Park

 

  • Boating & Paddling

Exceptional facilities for Boaters include storing, docking, fueling, launching jet skis, and larger boats. Car-top boats, including Kayaks and canoes, can be started at Bloomer's Beach, Ross Dock Picnic Area, Alpine Picnic Area, and Hazard's Ramp.

 

  • Cycling

Cycling is permitted on Henry Hudson Drive and Old Route 9W from the US. However, Cycling is not allowed on Dyckman Hill Road, Palisades Interstate Parkway and walking paths, or beyond the parking areas at Allison and Fort Lee Historic Park. Cyclists have to walk their bicycles.

 

  • Fishing & Crabbing

These are done along the shoreline and seawalls of the Hudson River. New Jersey State fishing regulations must be enforced, although licenses may not be required. There are various species caught along the Palisades, including catfish, white perch, striped bass, blue-claw crabs, tomcod, and eels.

 

  • Cross-Country Skiing

This is permitted in the Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey on most trails. There are various lengths of ski trails intended for cross country. Skiers should wait for a minimum of 4 inches of snow for them to use the paths.

 

  • Picnic Activities

 There are various picnic venues in Fort Lee Historic Park, where picnic tables are only preserved for members present.. Barbecues are allowed in the four riverfront picnic areas with a limited number of grills.
